Nov 05, 2025

A Powerball ticket purchased at Happy Hour, 1801 N.W. Route 7 in Blue Springs, led to a $150,000 win for a Missouri Lottery player in Jackson County. What would have normally been a $50,000 win became a $150,000 prize due to  his decision to add the Power Play option to his ticket for the Oct. 15 drawing.

“About 80% of the time I choose Quick Pick. I started adding Power Play to my tickets about two years ago,” the winner shared.

“I was drinking coffee and looked up the winning numbers,” he added, describing the moment he realized his ticket was a winner. “I was just taking a sip… I started shaking and dropped my cup – broke my cup!”

The winning numbers on Oct. 15 were 10, 13, 28, 34 and 47, with a Powerball number of 15. The ticket matched four of five white-ball numbers drawn, as well as the Powerball number, to win a base prize of $50,000. Since he also added the Power Play option, the prize was instantly tripled when the multiplier number drawn was 3..

“I thought I just won $50,000 when I went to the Lottery office,” he laughed. “I found out it was $150,000!”

Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday’s estimated jackpot is $438 million.

In FY25, players in Jackson County won more than $96.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $8.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $31.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
